Marc Andreessen

Marc Andreessen is the co-founder of a16z (Andreessen Horowitz) and, in Kyle’s corpus, both the catalyst and the foil for the “Build What?” thread. Kyle’s essay-research It’s Time To Build… But Build What - Research is written in direct response to Andreessen’s 2020 a16z manifesto It’s Time To Build — quoting its diagnosis that the failure is “a failure of action, and specifically our widespread inability to build,” and its call that “we need to want these things… even if incumbents don’t like it.” Kyle’s “but build what?” reframe accepts the energy while pressing on the missing object and mechanism.
