Chips For America

I’ve written over and over again about how much I love the United States of America. That, despite all of the weaknesses and mistakes the US has made, “it doesn’t change the fact that America is a unique bastion of freedom, opportunity, and achievement that represents a critical role in human progress.” Instead of shaming or doom-pilling, I prefer to reflect on solutions.
Over the last six months, thanks to a collaboration with an exceptional thinker, Maxx Yung, I’ve had the opportunity to dive deep into one such problem that merits the consideration of a solution.
The problem? The lack of domestic semiconductor manufacturing in the US. Exciting stuff right? Well, turns out, its actually one of the most important things. In fact, this particular problem could lead to World War 3.
So, after six months of research and writing 16K words, we wrote the latest deep dive for Contrary Research: Building An American TSMC. Because its been such a full focus of my life for very sizable chunks of time, I wanted to share it for everyone to read. Enjoy! And, as always, I’m most certainly open to feedback.
