UiPath is an enterprise robotic process automation (RPA) company, traded as $PATH. RPA is the automation layer that sits on top of other software and replicates the steps of a knowledge worker to automate repetitive tasks such as logging into applications, extracting information from documents and moving files.
- Product. One saved bull-and-bear thread describes a no-code bot installed on a desktop that records tasks using computer vision and then executes them (UI Path - a Company on… (tweet)).
- Competition. A September 2021 thread argues Microsoft’s Power Automate was gaining on UiPath, citing job openings, forum activity, and 10 of UiPath’s 30 most-downloaded marketplace integrations involving Microsoft tools; it also notes UiPath still looked like the better product because of its integration with legacy ERP, banking and mainframe applications ($MSFT is Quickly Gaining Market… (tweet), Microsoft).
- Acquisition. UiPath acquired the process-intelligence company FortressIQ.
- Valuation lesson. What’s In a Valuation? uses it as the example of a VC passing because the company wanted $1.1B against a $1B offer.
- Software’s survival. It appears in the scorecard of public software companies in Field Notes 007 — Software’s Survival (Contrary Research, Feb 2026), scoring 17 and sitting in the middle of the 77 companies.
- Landscape. Automating the Enterprise lists it under RPA alongside other automation companies; see also Automation.
