The Hydrogen Sonata

The tenth and last Culture book, published in October 2012, twenty-five years after Consider Phlebas. A civilisation is days away from Subliming — leaving physical reality altogether — and a question about a lie at its founding surfaces just in time to matter, pursued across a countdown by someone whose life’s work is an unplayable piece of music. It was Banks’s final science-fiction novel; he died of cancer in June 2013.
