Machine Vendetta

The third and final Dreyfus novel, and the last book Reynolds has published in this universe. Dreyfus investigates the suspicious death of a fellow prefect, which pulls the two artificial intelligences the earlier books left unresolved back into the open. The most recent title in this shard, and the closing move on a sequence about an institution whose entire mandate is keeping one system honest.

Context: B tier, “also worth reading,” volume three of the Dreyfus Emergencies. Read after The Prefect and Elysium Fire — it resolves threads from both rather than standing on its own.
