Investment Memo Template
Investment Memo Template
One of the two core “list” pages Kyle keeps in his Roam investing graph — the other being Investment Frameworks. In Networked Conviction — Roam + Investing he describes it as a reusable outline of the key areas every investment write-up should cover (e.g. Company Background, Daily Sentiment), and walks through the mechanical workflow for using it: after setting up a Company Name ($TICKER) page, he types Investment Memo Template, opens it in the sidebar, and Command-drags the main item blocks onto the company page to create block references back to each memo area. The result is that every company page mirrors the same standardized research structure while staying linked to the master template.
The template is meant to make research consistent — the same headings get filled in for every company — rather than to dictate a conclusion. Kyle pairs it with the Investment Frameworks library (a16z metrics, valuation checklists, etc.) and the per-company “Daily Sentiment” tracker, and he publishes both collections in his public “Investing 101 2.0” sandbox graph for others to copy.
Context: An investment memo is a standard tool in venture capital and public-markets investing — a structured document covering a company’s business, market, financials, risks, and thesis that an investor writes to discipline and record their reasoning before committing capital.
