In Service to the Mouse

In Service to the Mouse

In Service to the Mouse is the autobiography of Jack Lindquist, Disneyland’s first president, who learned his craft directly from Walt Disney. Kyle cites it inside his notes on Walt Disney and the Promise of Progress City as the source of one formative lesson: the best solutions usually come after a great deal of observation. Walt studied how people moved through museums to design around “museum feet,” visited dozens of parks, and brought ideas home from every trip abroad. For Kyle the book is where his “obsession with these questions… fully” clicked — observation as the precondition for good design, which he ties to his own Be Observant theme.

This is a books-to-read-style reference rather than a book Kyle has logged as read: it appears only as a memoir cited within another book’s notes.
