U&lc: Upper and Lower Case, Vol. 20 No. 4
TL;DR — ITC’s typography journal — the trade publication that taught a generation of designers to see type.
Upper and Lower Case, the International Journal of Type and Graphic Design, published by International Typeface Corporation. Volume 20, Number 4, Spring 1994.
U&lc was simultaneously a marketing vehicle for ITC’s typeface library and one of the most visually adventurous publications in graphic design, edited for most of its life by Herb Lubalin. Designers kept the issues.
A primary source on type culture at the moment digital typesetting had arrived and desktop publishing was reshaping who got to set type at all.
