Century Magazine, June 1900, subtitled “With Special Reference to the Harnessing of the Sun’s Energy” and “illustrated by the writer’s electrical experiments, now first published.”
Tesla frames human progress as a physics problem: humanity is a mass being moved by a force, and there are exactly three ways to increase the energy of that movement — add mass, reduce the retarding force, or increase the impelling force. He then works each one through, arriving at solar capture and wireless power transmission.
It is the essay that contains his most-quoted futurism, and it is a primary source rather than a retelling — worth having in the original typesetting.
