TED
TED is the conference-and-video brand whose short, staged talks became a recognizable public-speaking format. In the wiki it is a tag for posts about that format and how it has aged.
- Free access. A May 2021 tweet marvels that TED Talks are free and asks followers for their favorites.
- The format “won.” Visakan Veerasamy (May 3, 2026) rejects the common claim that TED died because TEDx diluted the brand. His “bleaker proposition” is that “the TED talk won, and has become the invisible implicit default frame for everything,” and is no longer needed “bc it’s everywhere.” This is a point in the Language of Discourse cluster on how a distinctive rhetorical form turns into invisible infrastructure.
- Talent moves. A May 2021 tweet notes that Clubhouse hired “the woman that made TED talks a thing.”
- How-to. The public-speaking side of the brand is covered by the book TED Talks — The Official TED Guide to Public Speaking.
