Self-Care — A Memetic Analysis
TL;DR — A visual analysis of self-care as an internet meme cluster: anxiety, performance, and the bath-bomb manifesto.
A slide-format memetic analysis of ‘self-care’ as it circulated in 2019 — anxiety, depression and sadness; performative social sharing; perceived lives vs known reality; and a section headed the Bathbomb Manifesto.
The argument is that self-care discourse performs two contradictory jobs at once: genuine coping and social display, with the display gradually eating the coping.
A cultural-analysis artifact in the native form of its subject.
