Richard Posner Summary

The encyclopedia entry on Richard Posner, the federal appellate judge and University of Chicago legal scholar who did more than anyone to make economic analysis the default vocabulary of American law, and who was for decades among the most cited legal thinkers in the country. It covers the law-and-economics programme, his enormous judicial and academic output, and his later pragmatic turn away from the stricter versions of his own early positions.

Why it’s on the list: The list uses it as a summary orientation in the Evolution of Institutions and Public Administration section, the same way it uses the Ostrom and Strauss summaries — a single article standing in for a body of work too large to assign.
