Paradise Restored: A Biblical Theology of Dominion

David Chilton 1985 View original ↗

TL;DR — A foundational text of Christian Reconstructionism — postmillennial eschatology as a mandate for cultural dominion.

Dominion Press, Tyler, Texas, 1985 (and reprinted repeatedly).

Chilton argues a postmillennial eschatology — that the gospel will progressively Christianise the world before Christ’s return — and draws from it a mandate for Christians to take responsibility for law, culture and institutions now.

A primary source for Christian Reconstructionism, a movement whose influence on the American religious right substantially exceeds its numbers. Filed for the same reason as the other movement texts here: it is more useful to read what a position actually says than to read about it.
