The standard textbook of the shipping business — freight-rate cycles, ship finance, the four markets (freight, newbuilding, sale-and-purchase, demolition), and 5,000 years of sea trade as background. Page count is the third edition (2009).

Why it’s on the list: Named twice in the replies to the “explains an entire industry” thread. When a working textbook is what a crowd names, that is usually a sign the industry has no popular book worth reading instead.
