Ladyslipper Catalog — Music by Women, Winter 1996–97
TL;DR — A mail-order catalogue of music by women, and one of the better surviving records of an independent distribution network.
Winter season 1996–97. Ladyslipper was a North Carolina non-profit distributing recordings by women musicians by mail order for three decades.
A catalogue like this is an index of an entire distribution network that no longer exists — before streaming, a mail-order specialist was how a listener found music that no shop stocked. The annotations are effectively criticism.
Scanned from a library collection, which is the only reason it survives.
