Inhibitor Phase

The fourth novel of the Inhibitor Sequence, published eighteen years after Absolution Gap closed the original trilogy. It picks up the same story: humanity reduced to scattered remnants hiding from the Inhibitors, machine intelligences that suppress spacefaring civilizations wherever they arise.

Context: Part of the Revelation Space universe, which the a16z infra list groups into the Inhibitor Sequence (this book is its fourth and final volume), the Dreyfus Emergencies, and the standalone Chasm City. Reynolds is a former ESA astrophysicist and the hard-SF end of the list’s B tier.
