Gospel of John (MacArthur New Testament Commentary)
MacArthur’s verse-by-verse exposition of the fourth gospel, published in two volumes — John 1–11 (2006) and John 12–21 (2008) — as part of the New Testament commentary series he wrote over several decades out of his own preaching at Grace Community Church. The method is expository rather than academic: the passage is worked through in order, the Greek is discussed in English, the doctrinal point is stated plainly, and the application is the sermon’s. One card covers the set.
Why it’s on the list: A working expositor’s commentary rather than a critical one — useful for seeing how a text is actually preached, which is a different question from how it is studied.
Where I saw it: On @j_bambrick’s September 26, 2025 compilation of every book Charlie Kirk recommended across his episodes and videos.
