Education Policy

Government and institutional decisions governing how schools are structured, measured, and funded. The U.S. has spent 20+ years on test-based accountability reforms (No Child Left Behind and its successors), yet data from NAEP, PISA, and SAT scores consistently shows reading outcomes essentially flat 1973–2004, early math gains disappearing by high school, and SAT scores at all-time lows by 2016 — while homework loads grew 50% and childhood mental health declined. As Daniel Koretz (Measuring Up) documented: “we have far more data than we had twenty or thirty years ago, we have fewer sources of data that we can trust.” See also Standardized Testing.
