Classics II — Another Investor’s Anthology

The second of the two anthologies Vertin and Ellis assembled for the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts: excerpts from decades of investment writing, arranged so that the field’s arguments can be read in the words of the people who first made them rather than in a textbook’s summary of them. The first volume, Classics: The Most Interesting Ideas and Concepts from the Literature of Investing, is entry 15 on Li Lu’s list; this one is entry 16.

Why it’s on the list: Li Lu’s section on Value Investing, Finance, and Capitalism is 43 entries and is the part of the bibliography the X posts actually photographed. Its spine is the primary literature — Graham, Buffett, Fisher, Klarman — and the two Vertin-and-Ellis anthologies are how the section covers the rest of that literature without listing another hundred books.

Where I saw it: On Li Lu’s Recommended Book List, entry 16 in the value-investing section, cited with a 1991 date and no publisher. Kyle saved the list as two X posts, from @F_Compounders and @themattharbaugh, that between them photographed only this section; the full 137-entry list was recovered from the source PDF.
