Chicken Chicken Chicken: Chicken Chicken

Doug Zongker 2006 View original ↗

TL;DR — A complete academic paper — abstract, figures, citations, classification codes — in which every word is ‘chicken’.

University of Washington. The paper is formatted flawlessly: abstract, section structure, figures with captions, ACM classification codes (C.3.2 [Chickens]: Chicken Chickens—chicken/chicken chicken), references. Every content word is chicken.

It is funny, and it is also a sharp demonstration of how much of academic writing is carried by form rather than content — the paper reads as competent at a glance, and a glance is what most papers get. Zongker’s conference presentation of it is the other half of the joke.
