3,675 pages. Tomasik’s own framing is the first thing on it: “This page collects some texts I’ve written throughout my lifetime. Note that I don’t necessarily endorse things I wrote in the past; for example, pieces older than late 2005 ignore animal suffering, including wild-animal suffering, which I now think is among the most important issues.”
He is a central figure in the suffering-focused ethics strand of effective altruism, best known for taking wild-animal suffering seriously as a moral problem at scale.
The interesting artifact is the form: a complete personal corpus, self-collected, with an explicit disclaimer that the author has changed his mind. Very few writers publish their own back catalogue and say which parts they now reject.
