Army Doctrine Publication 3-0, October 2011. Approved for public release.

A capstone doctrine document: the Army’s own statement of its operating concept, from which the subordinate manuals derive. Unified Land Operations was the post-Iraq/Afghanistan framing built around combining offensive, defensive and stability tasks simultaneously.

Capstone doctrine is the closest thing a large institution produces to a written statement of its own theory of itself.
