Why it’s on the list: First volume of Christopher Ruocchio’s The Sun Eater science-fiction series — the recommendation was for the whole series, and this is where it starts.
Where I heard about it
- Gavin Baker (@GavinSBaker) — on X (February 2026): “The Sun Eater series by Chris Ruocchio is the best science fiction I have read in the last decade.”
About this edition
Baker recommended the series, not a single book; Empire of Silence (2018) is volume one of seven. One card here rather than seven, on the theory that if the first lands the rest follow.
