Why it’s on the list: The second of two anthologies Vertin and Ellis assembled for the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts — excerpts from decades of investment writing, so the field’s arguments can be read in the words of the people who first made them rather than in a textbook’s summary.

Where I heard about it

• Li Lu — on Li Lu’s Recommended Book List, entry 16 in the section on Value Investing, Finance, and Capitalism (cited with a 1991 date and no publisher). That section’s spine is the primary literature — Graham, Buffett, Fisher, Klarman — and the two Vertin-and-Ellis anthologies cover the rest without listing another hundred books. The section reached me through X posts from @F_Compounders and @themattharbaugh.
