Anabasis

Why it’s on the list: Ten thousand Greek mercenaries stranded deep in Persia after their employer is killed, electing their own officers and marching home — written by one of the men who led the march.

About this edition

Written in the fourth century BC, so no modern publication year is recorded here. My original note also lists “The Anabasis of Alexander”, which is Arrian’s separate work on Alexander; the repeated mention of Xenophon is what this card follows.
